Educational game design was my first job in the industry. At Brainium.com (1996–1999), I designed curriculum-based science content and games for grades 4–8 and built the content classification system that aligned the platform to provincial, national, and state curricula—the first taxonomy I ever designed. At Stratford Internet Technologies, I produced web and multimedia work and led a team of ten developers. At Online Innovation (2000–2004), I led development of VirtuallyDating.com, an early graphical online community with avatar chat rooms and multiplayer games, and managed partnerships across the US, UK, and Canada. I also taught project planning, portfolio production, and interaction design at the Art Institute of Vancouver. At Clear Ink in Berkeley (2004–2006), I built websites, Flash applications, podcasts, screencasts, and email campaigns for a fast-growing digital agency. At A.S.K. Learning (2006–2008), I managed and designed interactive eLearning for external clients, including the Cisco project that won a Brandon Hall Silver Medal.
